A 4-month-old schedule is still an example

The AAP describes sleep cycles becoming more regular around four months, with differences between babies. That does not turn a sample schedule into a required routine. Start by recording what actually happened, then use the planner to see how one change shifts the rest of the example.

The assumptions behind this example

The starting scenario uses 4 naps of 45 minutes, 90 minutes awake before each nap and 120 minutes before bedtime. These are editable editorial examples, not medically established limits for every 4-month-old. The tool adds your chosen durations; it does not predict sleep or assess whether the pattern meets your baby’s needs.

Illustrative sample day
MomentExample time
Morning wake-up7:00 AM
Nap 18:30 AM – 9:15 AM
Nap 210:45 AM – 11:30 AM
Nap 31:00 PM – 1:45 PM
Nap 43:15 PM – 4:00 PM
Bedtime6:00 PM

Keep the real day in view

Follow feeding needs, your baby’s cues and your clinician’s guidance. Record interruptions as part of the day instead of treating them as failures. Place babies on their backs for sleep and follow current safe-sleep guidance. For changes over several nights, a simple sleep diary can give you better conversation notes than repeatedly adjusting a sample timetable.
