A flexible 6-month-old sleep schedule
At this age, sleep patterns can still vary from day to day. Some babies are moving between nap patterns. The planner offers examples to help you visualize timing, not a rule that your baby needs to follow.
What changes when you move the wake-up time?
The full sample day moves with it. The three-nap example uses awake periods of 2, 2¼, 2½ and 2¾ hours, with naps of 75, 75 and 30 minutes. The two-nap comparison uses 2½, 3 and 3¼ hours awake with two 90-minute naps. These are editable-day illustrations expressed as fixed planning assumptions, not clinical cutoffs.
Use a plan alongside a record
Compare the example with what actually happened: when your baby slept, how long naps lasted, and what you noticed. Dr. Baby’s upcoming journal brings daily moments together.

A useful place to start
How to use this tool
- Choose the morning wake-up time for your example day.
- Select the three-nap example or the two-nap comparison. The planner moves every event relative to your start time.
- Compare the example with your baby’s actual day and print a copy if useful. The sample is not an individual sleep recommendation.
Example: a 7 AM start with three naps
This is the planner’s three-nap illustration, shown before you change any settings. It uses the planning assumptions described above, rather than predicting your baby’s sleep.
| Moment | Sample time |
|---|---|
| Wake up | 7:00 AM |
| Nap 1 | 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM |
| Nap 2 | 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM |
| Nap 3 | 4:15 PM – 4:45 PM |
| Bedtime | 7:30 PM |
Questions about 6-month sleep schedule
Can I change the wake-up time?
Yes. A change from 7 AM to 8 AM moves every event in the selected example one hour later. Press Plan a little rhythm to update the result.
Does choosing two naps mean my baby is ready for two naps?
No. The selector compares two sample patterns. It does not assess nap readiness or recommend a transition.
Can I use this as a wake window calculator?
It displays a day built from fixed example awake periods and nap lengths. It does not calculate your baby’s personal wake windows from sleep history.
Can I print the sleep schedule?
Yes. Generate the example and select Print this plan. You can print it or use your browser’s print dialog to save a PDF.
