The little guide · By Dr. Baby
How is a due date calculated?
The usual calendar estimate adds 280 days to the first day of the last menstrual period. This assumes a 28-day cycle with ovulation around day 14. If you know the conception date, this tool adds 266 days instead. A date of intercourse is not necessarily the date of conception.
Your estimated date, not a deadline
Cycles and the timing of ovulation vary. Your prenatal care team may establish or adjust a due date using ultrasound and your history. Use their confirmed date when planning care. This calculator does not date an IVF pregnancy; ask your fertility clinic for an embryo-transfer-based estimate.
Using the date card
Choose the date you actually know, check the year, then generate your result. Print the card for your planning folder. To find your current week from a confirmed due date, open the separate weeks-pregnant calculator. To see trimester dates, use the pregnancy timeline. All three tools use calendar days rather than a forecast of when labor will begin.
